Bio
Dr. Belinda Chiu has extensive knowledge in developing human capital and education, coaching and counseling, conducting strategic research and analysis, addressing needs of underserved populations, improving organizational processes, and promoting cross-cultural integration and communication for the public, private, and academic sectors. Dr. Chiu has over ten years of experience in graduate and undergraduate school admissions, corporate recruitment, and career advisement. She has also worked in children’s educational media, international educational development, and global program development. Her previous experiences include social marketing, strategic consulting for non-profits, academic institutions, and hospitals, and global management consulting in the consumer packaged goods industries. Her work has involved organizations such as: Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Dove Consulting Group, Sesame Workshop, and the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.
Dr. Chiu is a social entrepreneur. Her passions lie in: inspiring greater consciousness about food, developing culturally competent leaders, promoting inter-racial dialogue, leveraging educational and economic opportunities for social justice, and bringing people together to effect significant change
Dr. Chiu graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with an A.B. in Government with Honors. She received her Master in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where she concentrated in International Education Management and Entrepreneurship and International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. She received her Ed.D. in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, setting a department record for successful completion of her degree. A leader and member of various organizations focused on promoting people of color in international affairs, the Asian American community, and the promotion of public-private initiatives, she is also trained in mediation and focus group facilitation. She was the recipient of Dartmouth College’s Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award and was the youngest person featured in Working World: Careers in International Education, Exchange, and Development (2008) by Sherry Mueller, Ph.D. and Mark Overmann. An avid traveler and food enthusiast, she is fluent in Cantonese and proficient in Spanish.
